Steps to Repair Slipping Transmission

- Start with a good scan tool and plug it into the dash or correct port. If you observe no codes or error data, you don’t have obvious electronic problems.
- Check the fluid. Usually, you can leave the engine running, in Park, on a level surface. After that, you can check the fluid level of the car. Pull out the dipstick and then clean the tip, and check it. After that, you can put it back in and pull it out. - The trick to measuring the transmission fluid you need is easy: Pour all the fluid you’ve drained into a container. Then, you put back in the new liquid according to the volume you hold in the container. For example, you measure seven quartz, then you have to fill it with the same volume.
