2021 Ram Dakota: Brings Sweet Memories of a Mid-Size Truck

If you can’t wait for the new Dakota’s arrival at the end of the year, at least you will like what I know about the 2021 Ram Dakota. RAM plans to revive the Dodge Dakota mid-sized truck.

I think it will bring back all the sweet memories between you and the pickup. Especially since 2011, you’ve never seen it, but now the Dakota nameplate is coming back.

Surely you can’t wait for the truck to arrive. But you should at least wait until the end of this year to ride it. It is also encouraging that it is more affordable and no heavier than the half-ton weight of Ram 1500.

Most of the components, I think, will be based on the awesome Jeep Gladiator. But we can’t deny that the new Dakota will share some of the elements with its bigger sibling.

Now, Dakota is also not without rivals. Just name famous names that you must already know, such as the Ford Ranger and other medium-sized trucks like the Tacoma, GMC Canyon, or Chevy Colorado scrambling to get the best sales.

New Ram Dakota Price

We haven’t got any information about Dakota’s price, including the trim they will introduce to us. But I think the price is lower than the Jeep Gladiator, which is currently hovering around $ 35,000.

The starting price of $ 26,000 for the Dakota, I believe, is quite reasonable considering the other two rivals in that price range are Chevy Colorado and Ford Ranger. If you want the best balance between economical prices and features, then a model like Laramie or SLT could be the right choice.

But that’s with a note if they’re using the base of the more significant 1500 pickup. I’m also not sure about the price range and trims they will offer, so this is just an opinion.

I don’t think it matters if the Gladiator is a template from Dakota or even if it’s a smaller size variant of the Ram 1500.

2021 Ram Dakota Engine

Not only that, but the Dakota will also have an uncomplicated engine. There is almost no possibility of using a V8 engine on the Dakota, but the 3.6 L V6 engine is almost certainly used.

It’s the same as the engines from the Fiat Chrysler lineup you may already be familiar with.

Power from the engine will be channeled by an 8-speed transmission with an AWD or RWD drivetrain. A different engine alternative worth considering is the diesel 3.0 L V6, where you’ll get 260 hp and 442 lb-ft of torque.

If you have an offroad destination, Dakota will most likely offer a trim to challenge its competitors in the medium-sized truck class.

Are you going to love the Rebel trim with its rigid suspension, bottom protection plates, impressive tires, and an aggressive look? I bet you would have dreamed about it.

Towing Capacity and Payload

Suppose you want to estimate the towing capacity and carrying capacity of the 2021 Ram Dakota. In that case, you can compare it to a medium-sized Ram because, generally, the numbers are in that range.

However, that may change when the official specs are announced to the public.

But if you look at the Jeep Gladiator’s ability to compare, Ram Dakota has a towing capacity of 7650 pounds and a payload of 1600 pounds.

Dakota Interior

It seems that in the truck interior, you will get some standard or optional facilities such as heated and ventilated seats, good leather upholstery, a heated steering wheel, useful wireless charging for your device, etc. The interior style is also not much different from the Ram 1500.

Ram will provide crew and a smaller extended cab in the Dakota lineup, so you can choose which one suits your needs. It seems like Dakota will also provide a variety of creative storage places. But I doubt that the rear seats have a large size. However, you will also get offers for short or long cargo beds.
