2020 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid XSE Has Better Powertrain and Fuel Economy

The 2020 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid XSE is the dominant sales list but is it a good rival in the market? Although you appreciate the elegant cabin and ample safety systems, the chassis and the powertrain were not spectacular.

Thankfully, the RAV4 Hybrid clarifies things and corrects certain gas flaws of the RAV4 while delivering 40 mpg. We assume the RAV4 is one of the most appealing cars.

Toyota RAV4 Hybrid XSE Body Design

The RAV4 has clear chisel lines with rectangular corners away from the round appearance of other competitors.

With dark highlights all over the exterior, including swing panels, fenders, and roofs, the Hybrid XSE is quite elegant.

18-inch black wheels complement the look, making the RAV4 even more active than the regular compact SUV.

Ignore everything you believe you learned regarding hybrids. If you believe, the Toyota RAV4 Hybrid XSE raced between 0-60 mph in 7.1s, making it exceptionally athletic between compact SUVs.

That is nearly a second quicker than the fuel-only RAV4, approximately 0-60 mph in 8 secs. You can feel the distinction on the lane.

The hybrid system, supported by the electric motor, offers fast and effective power when you are mixing rapidly into a highway or switching lanes.

The typical RAV4 powertrain sounds, in comparison, rougher, nearly gravely. Power is slow and shows brave engine notes.

You may think that the hybrid package is more effective than the conventional RAV4. However, it still has a further 16 HP.

The Engine of the RAV4 Hybrid XSE

The 2,5-L engine and motor function mutually achieve 219 hp, distributed by a continuously variable transmission rather than an automatic 8-speed transmission. All-wheel drive is fully electric and standard.

The RAV4 Hybrid does not want to be played in daily driving. Like the RAV4 regular, the hybrid offers soft steering, which will not impress the sportsperson.

Perhaps you regret the lack of steering sensation compared to the CR-V Hybrid, king of driving and handling. The steering is adequate, but it’s not very quick, and the vehicle rarely feels light. The XSE is decent with a sport-tuned suspension, but don’t get your hopes up.

The Toyota RAV4 hybrid has a slightly choppy drive, comparable to the regular RAV4. It does not handle large or small road bumps properly.

You wonder, how strong are the brakes? The SUV has no smooth braking, as many hybrids do. You may notice that they take longer to grip than usual.

The hybrid is also slightly faster than the fuel-only variant. Concerning stopping time, the full stop distance is 120 feet, and the standard RAV4 is 121 feet.

Given Toyota’s vast expertise in hybrid technology, it’s no wonder the RAV4 Hybrid is one of the most fuel-efficient compact hybrid SUVs in the world.

At 41/38/40 mpg, this is the equivalent of the Ford Escape AWD. Toyota and Ford are more economical than the Honda CR-V Hybrid.

As the XSE edition, the Toyota RAV4 Hybrid is below the Limited trim and has a superior interior.

Soft-touch surfaces are everywhere, and the cabin feels clean with well-placed buttons. The wireless charging ideas, the cupholder base, the door accents, and the dashboard’s tray are all part of unity design.

The Toyota RAV4 Hybrid is a car for those who like to pay attention and enjoy the details.

The elegant climate control dials are a unique touch, as are the rotary controller drive modes that change color when shifting between Eco, Normal, and Sport.

Matching blue stitching enhances the dash, and SofTex material complements the seats. You can add an optional 8-inch touch screen on the technology front, and you have 5 USB ports.

You’re going to enjoy the big cabin. If you’re seated at the front or the back, you have massive legroom and headroom. The drivetrain hump on the back is very high, so the middle passenger requires more leg space.

The bigger problem may be that the back door doesn’t open as large as you want.

Cargo Space and Safety Features

The RAV4 Hybrid provides a spacious cargo area, along with lots of passenger spaces.

With the rear seats up, you get 37.5 cubics-feet, and when the seats are folded down, you do have 69.8 cubics-feet.

The Toyota RAV4 Hybrid arrives with an abundance of safety technology features.

You’ll be well protected with a pre-collision system, pedestrian detection, auto high-beam, and lane departure alert, plus steering assistance to prevent drifting.

The RAV4 Hybrid 2020 has standard adaptive cruise control + low-speed follow. Also, excellent lane tracking assistance will keep the vehicle centered on the track.

Besides, this vehicle received a perfect five-star overall accident rating from the trusted National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. This ranking consists of four stars on the front, five on the side, and four on the rollover test.

It even makes sense for the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety to name the RAV4 hybrid as the Top Safety Pick.

Ironically this top difference is only for the Hybrid Limited model with adaptive headlights. Meanwhile, poor or marginal ratings are aimed at the headlights of other RAV4 Hybrid models.

You’ll love other notable standard features: the heated front seats, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, dual-zone auto climate control, digital mirrors, and power lift doors.

Toyota RAV4 Hybrid XSE Price

You can add a premium audio package for $ 1,620. Thus, you will have an improved navigation and stereo system.

The $ 640 Tech package is quite attractive as you have front and rear parking assistance and wireless smartphone charging to support connectivity.

The base price of the RAV4 Hybrid is $ 29,470 and will compete with the Honda CR-V Hybrid, which does have similar equipment.

Despite this, the power passenger seat feature is something you would expect. A much smoother powertrain is a reasonable consideration for gas handling and rides compromises.

The excellent fuel economy is also very impressive. The Toyota RAV4 Hybrid has outstanding features and style to highlight the RAV4 lineup and makes it a competitive choice.
