Now we’ll talk about the 2021 Toyota Corolla Hatchback XSE Supersonic Red.
Corolla’s car has been around for so many fantastic years.
To have a model like a hatchback that goes back to the 70s.
Toyota called it the liftback when the first Corolla hatchback hit the roads.
When you pick XSE, you’re getting top-level trim. For 2021 you have something that has been added.

It’s some unique touches known as the supersonic red special edition where Toyota only makes 1,500 units.
Is this car is the best one you should choose over a Mazda 3 or Honda Civic? Let’s find out here!
2021 Corolla Hatch Supersonic Red Body Design
The tone is excellent, and you can see a continuity of the typical style of the Corolla. The LED headlights are standard across all trims.
The daytime running lamps on the hatchback is excellent.
Also, how the extension of the front fascia and the lower area extends down provides this car a lovely sporty look.
You’ll find a little bit of gloss black and lovely LED fog lamps.
The brushed aluminum silver trim wraps around the top portion center grille is a flat black functional.
Besides, the lower lip that extends is also part of the front fascia.
So Toyota hatch did a magnificent job presenting loads of distinct design elements and a great expression overall.
You do have a Toyota badge and a little bit of gloss black for the stacked hood in the front fascia design.
The body lines nice rise up onto the hood, curve, and go right towards the a-pillar nicely.
2021 Corolla Hatchback Side Exterior
The dark gray metallic works well with the supersonic red.
You have a 225 on the width 40 series sidewall.
On the fender, you have the exceptional two-tone paint job, sparkly black metallic paint.
With the supersonic red, you’re getting the black mirror caps running along the side of the door high beltline.
The side sill extension and body line along the bottom of the doors are tasteful.
You’ve got an excellent flat roof color that matches the shark’s fin antennae, and how they taper nicely in two tones is excellent.
Corolla Hatchback XSE Rear Exterior
All indentations and body lines give the rear of the Corolla such a broad, aggressive look.
Besides, the Toyota, Corolla, and XSE badge looks excellent.
Unfortunately, you have a fake functional exhaust.
However, from one end to the other, you get a fantastic look that makes you stand out from the rest of the hatchback mainstream.
New Corolla Hatch Engine
The engine is 2 L inline-four naturally aspirated, 169 hp, 151 lb-ft of torque.
You could have flexibility with your Corolla 2021 Hatchback, either get a CVT or a six-speed manual transmission.
But this CVT is a bit unusual from your standard CVT. You have the actual first gear, and then the rest of it is the band system connected with a CVT trans.
With this transmission, you reach 0-60 in 8.6 s, and the top speed is 112 mph.
The vehicle weighs 3,060 pounds.
But fuel consumption is where you’re going to be the real winner—30 mpg in the city and 38 on the highway with dependable horsepower and better torque delivery.
Not only that, the option to get a six-speed manual is excellent news as well.

2021 Toyota Corolla Interior
On the door panels, Toyota does a great job. You get a nice two-tone color and kind of ceramic white, up top all soft touch. Also, you have a darker black.
The material on the armrests is good with white contrast stitching. Toyota designs the door handles like a curve to meet the door panels, and some gloss black is perfectly acceptable.
You do have a nice size door pocket, and the dash has soft-touch material.
Besides, you can opt for the JBL sound system, which is excellent.
The silver trim and the familiar infotainment system is excellent.
You do have Apple Carplay, Android Auto navigation, all simple to figure out.
People love the Toyota car because no matter which one you get into, they’re just straightforward to navigate through.
You have your two AC vents and dual climate control. The way gloss black integrated into the actual dash is excellent.
The stitches’ work comes to the corner, and the start-stop button nicely places.
Besides, wireless charging easy to get.
You’re going to have heated seats with soft-touch material within the area where the shifter is.
You can go for Sport mode and shut the traction control off.
But, the backup camera does not have a trajectory. However, it does cover that whole area.
Another great news for 2021 is you have more airbags in this 2021 Toyota Corolla hatchback. You got two more in the back to bring it up to ten.
The excellent soft-touch material on the boot is lovely. You got a little bit of silver and glossed black, but it’s tasteful.
Don’t forget. You got an electric e-brake and two cup holders.
We wish that they would do just something a little bit different for the key fob. It’s just a lot of plastic.
But, the good news is its light. So if you have it in your pocket, it’s not going to pull your pants down.
The armrest is excellent, high, and it is semi-soft. You got a USB and 12 volts in the center console.
The seats have the same two-tone with the soft material. You have full-electric with a nice amount of headroom.
What’s interesting is that the way that Toyota did the color combinations with the darker headliner. It doesn’t feel dark inside but balanced.
Behind the Wheel of Toyota Corolla XSE Hatchback
The material and the comfort level is very high on the driver seats.
The driver has plenty of headroom behind the wheel.
One thing that’s unique about Toyota is no matter what vehicle you get in, maybe besides the Supra, all of their steering wheels are the same.
Yes, that’s a good thing because you automatically know where all the controls.
You’ll like the leather all the way around with some excellent crisscross stitching. A little bit of flat silver and black also give a better appearance.
You have a Toyota badge and paddles behind it to go through simulated gears with the CVT transmission.
On the new Toyota Corolla XSE Hatchback trim, you have a beautiful seven-inch digital display in the center. You could toggle into a plethora of useful information. The fonts and the colors are fantastic.
Analog tach, fuel, coolant gauge, and everything else laid very smartly.
You’re going to get all Toyota sensing technology. The blind-spot monitoring, lane keep assist, and others will make sure that you drive safely.
Overall you got an enjoyable environment to sit in, especially on a longer-drive for a compact car.
You have the excellent leather type of material that goes all the way around the back.
Also, super good-sized pockets very deep. So you could put some kinds of stuff.
But the bad news is no connectivity. We know this is XSE trim. We would at least like a 12 volt, but the seats are comfy.
The armrests height is nice with soft material and two cupholders.
Space was a little limited but what you have new for the 2021 Toyota Corolla is a no-cost option.
You could delete the spare and what they will give you in return is a flat repair kit and basically, what you’re gaining is an extra six cubic feet of space.
The rear cargo area is maximized up to 23 cubic feet. You’ll like how deep it is, and then, of course, you’re going to have that ability to fold down the seats. It’s a friendly 60 40 split actions effortless to do.
Even you can lift the cargo mat, and you’ll see a can of a flat fix with a 12 volt operated air compressor.
It’s nice to have extra storage capacity, especially for those who need it.
Drive the Toyota Corolla XSE Hatchback 2021
If you’re looking for a compact car, you need to take one for a test drive.
The new Corolla hatchback visibility is fantastic.
The way Toyota pulls the a-pillars very far apart gives such a clear view.
Now about the infotainment system, we know a lot of people do not like an iPad style.
However, from the ease of use and visual, it’s probably one of today’s best in the market.
The AC controls are easy to understand.
We like the way the wireless charging pad is far underneath the dash.
The Sport mode will change some of the engine’s behavior the transmission but don’t expect 0-60 to drop to about five seconds.
In Sport mode, the steering has a lighter feel. So if you don’t like to have a more massive steering sensation, we think the Corolla hatchback will be a better choice over a Honda Civic or a Mazda 3.
You do have multi-link rear suspensions outback. Remember, the Mazda 3 does not have it for 2020 or 2021 since reviewing this model year.
The brakes work great, as you just witnessed, and overall you’re touching feels good. But you would like a little bit more tech in the XSE trim.
You know, the sunroof would be nice at this price point and have the connectivity for the passengers in the back.
However, the side mirrors work great, and the seats are super comfortable in XSE Corolla.
With the 2-liters engine, you’re going to get a usable powerband. You do not have to wait for a boost.
The paddles allow you to feel a little bit more in control of the actual act of driving. You could select where you want to be in the RPM range.
You’re not going to win any drag races at the lights.
Anyway, you can carry the RPMs up to about 6,800-7,000 rpm for the red line with the manual shift.
With the downshifts, it feels like you’re driving an actual standard automatic transmission full of gears.
But technically, on the second gears on the throttle, the chassis is very balanced. It doesn’t feel like it’s wiggling all over the place.
The front-wheel-drive feels balanced from left to right.
It does help you feel planted, and the steering feels good.
We prefer a little bit more weight on the steering. But most people are going to enjoy how light the steering is.
Hopefully, this review gave you a nice overall feel of what the 2021 Toyota Corolla Hatchback XSE trim supersonic red is all about.
We fall in love with the supersonic red, especially the two-tone with the blacked-out roof.
So, if you are looking for a compact Hatchback, you can consider adding this to your list to get an outstanding naturally aspirated Toyota reliability.
Also, you get some great mpg and a unique look that will help you stand out from the rest of the crowd.
