2021 Toyota GR Supra 3.0 premium trim is the 5th generation of the iconic sports car.
Now with this five mark, there was a bit of controversy out there. Is this the authentic Supra? Because Toyota has teamed up with BMW to produce this car for 2021.
However, Toyota has made some adjustments.
Now you have a lot more power and performance in a sports car, and what Toyota does captures the Supra’s true essence.
Now with the 2021 Supra, you still get an inline-six turbocharged 3.0 L engine.
Besides, there’s also the A91 special edition with striking color and trim. Just a thousand of A91 are being made.
No matter what, you’ll be a happy driver at the end of the day.
2021 Toyota GR Supra Body Design
You have several LED beams in the headlight house that illuminate the path in front of you.
You have LED daytime running lamps and turn signals.
Now you still have a lot of fake vents on the Supra. But the good news is with a little money and effort. You could make it all functional or just a few of them.
Across the center section, you got a clean design to produce more downforce and increase your handling.
But it also will scoop air into the radiator to help cool everything underneath the hood.
We think one of your favorite parts is the nose section. You could see a connection to the F1 concept.
The hood is all one piece, and the body lines flow from the front fascia kind of curved off on the hood and the fenders.
Around the bend of Toyota GR Supra 3.0, you’re going to see something new.
For 2021 you still have the four-piston Brembo calipers.
You’ll love smart-touch Toyota and Supra badging on the calipers to identify that this car is a 2021 model.
You do have the same wheel design with a nice aluminum finish. The rest is painted gloss black with 19-inch wheels and wrapped in sticky super sports tires.
The good news is this isn’t Cup 2. So you’ll still get some excellent wear resistance.
You have over 13 inches of the rotor at all four corners to give you exceptional braking capability.
You have great 19-inch wheels from Michelin. Upfront, you will have 255/35ZR-19 (96Y). Outback, it is 275/35ZR-19 (100Y) as this is a rear-wheel-drive car.
When you go from the top portion of the fender to the side, you have good-looking fake vents.
Even so, the way Toyota puts the ventilation looks right at the bucks.
Remember, Toyota designed a streetcar version of a racing car. In a race car, of course, everything works.
The way the fender comes down is excellent, and you have an extension at the bottom of the door panel.
Of course, you get side sills and great body lines that get picked up and brought into the side scoop.
The side scoops are fake and nothing too special.
Anyway, you’ll love the double-bubble roof design with lots of headroom.
You have a deep black color on your mirror lid. The gloss black on the a-pillars gives the car a neat overall dimension.
One of your favorite parts of getting behind the wheel is the flared fenders’ look. They do have some nice curves.
You get a little wider on the wheels at the back. It’s still 19 inches but will be slightly wider to accommodate 275 in width for traction to the ground.
At the rear, the way Toyota makes the rear glass windows is excellent. You also get a nice, almost ducktail spoiler attached to the rear hatch.
You get a full LED taillight with a massive internal turn signal, possibly one of the largest and rear diffusers. One exhaust on each side looks super clean.
You have an LED reverse light but not a third brake light. It looked like a Formula One car a few years ago. The rear diffuser looks good, low and wide.
Toyota Supra Engine
Under the hood, two aluminum braces connect the radiator area’s top to the support strut mounts. That will help strengthen the chassis.
You get more power listed on the paper. So it’s still a 3 L inline-six turbocharged, 382 horsepower, and 368 lb-ft of torque.
Everything is routed through the same 8-speed slick shift from the ZF 8-speed automatic transmission.
So, how do you get that extra power figure? That’s all done via a new exhaust manifold and piston design.
The good news is that the car’s weight still looks good at 3400 pounds. You get an active differential at the back, 0-60 acceleration in about 3.7 seconds.
When we talk about the wheels, you’ve got 13.7 inches up front and 13.0 inches outback rotors.
Of course, upfront, you have great Brembo calipers that will clamp down the rotors.
Toyota has done some fine-tuning, boosted horsepower to give you extra support to aid handling.
2021 Toyota GR Supra 3.0 Interior
The simple, clean, and premium door panels feature an optional JBL sound system, a 12 speaker system.
Contrast stitching and glossy black around the window control knobs look great.
It’s not just a plain gloss, but metallic flakes to it.
However, you have tiny pockets for your items.
The dashboard has an equally beautiful and clean setting. The way the stitching and silver are integrated over the soft-touch material everywhere is exquisite.
In all 2021 Toyota GR Supra 3.0, whether you get a base, premium, or a special edition, an 8.8-inch infotainment system screen is now standard across the board instead of 6.5 inches.
It might look awkward at first, but the touch screen is the right height and works well.
You get radio controls, a silver start/stop button, dual climate, and heated but none ventilated seats. All of them are very easy to use.
Wireless charging is reasonable. You’ll love the way you slide the phone down and hold it in place. Or you can have one charge wirelessly and then the other you put on top because you have USB and 12 volts.
You have a backup camera and radar technology to protect you when passing through hard spots and whatnot.
You get a BMW-style iDrive controller. Remember, there are still many connections since this car was made with BMW and Toyota together.
You have a Sport button. There is only one mode. Either you have it in Sport, or you don’t have it.
You can turn off the traction control, get an electric brake and two cupholders. No real center console, so it remains standard.
The seats are racing cars with lovely soft leather. The stitches work well, and the brushed aluminum is beautiful. The 14-way adjustable and the right amount of bolstering is enough to keep you happy.
You get plenty of headroom.
You would think the roof was very sloping, but even if you were 6 feet tall, you could put on a helmet very quickly and go on a track day.
Behind The Wheel
You have a control seat with two excellent memory settings.
The steering wheel is large but could be a little thicker.
You do have two good-sized paddles for the up and down of 8-speed automatic transmission. The dashboard is very simple and straightforward. We love digital bar graphs for fuel and coolant and you also get a digital speedometer.
You can enter or exit Sport mode quickly. You have a heads-up display, but we wish it had a gear indicator. However, it does tell you your speed and what the speed limit is.
When you look at the space under the hatch, you will realize how useful the Toyota Supra is as an everyday vehicle.
You can open the hatch very quickly and get lots of room.
You will be very impressed with what Toyota gives you when you see the room in it, and it is possible to use this car as a daily vehicle.
Drive the 2021 Toyota GR Supra 3.0
You can immediately feel the extra performance that comes from the inline six-cylinder engine. Toyota has done a great job with this car.
The suspension changes and the way they improve bracing is very well balanced. The input power method is much more powerful and doesn’t wait for the turbo boost to build up.
The way up and down the ZF 8-speed automatic transmission with pedals is very smooth. 2020 Toyota Supra transfers weight very well from left to right axle or vice versa.
You can feel the extra bracing upfront as you feel more connected compared to the 2020 Supra.

With this setup, you can still get a good grip on the super sports tires.
Overall, the interior is excellent.
It’s nice to know that no matter which Supra you go with when you use the straight-six, you get the bigger 8.8-inch infotainment system screen. Very simple, exactly what you need, and no unnecessary extras.
Visibility outback is magnificent, and you will feel comfortable in very smooth seats.
Brembos reduces vehicle speed very well.
The brakes lower power very smoothly, and the steering weight is excellent. The Toyota Supra is entirely on a new level with the additions they have made, perfectly balanced with extra power.
The eight-speed transmission is incredibly smooth and powerful. You feel so connected, and it fulfills just the right amount of change.
You would think more horsepower had made the chassis unstable, but that was a fine-tuning and now even better than before.

The excellent engine and the improvements Toyota has made show that we are worth waiting for an additional year for the new model.
