2020 Buick Encore GX: Can It Beat the Mazda CX-30?

As Buick has seen commercial success in today's fantastic crossover world, we believe the business will add to its Buick Encore GX 2020 line of crossovers. It is currently above the standard Encore, and for a little more bucks provides more space and a new turbocharged engine.

The Buick Encore GX just doesn't offer many updates for its second-year plan in this market segment. At the very least, wireless connectivity, SiriusXM satellite, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto, all now become standard as overall features that benefit the entire range. Also, adaptive cruise control is also available as a good optional safety package in addition to the Preferred models.

Bottom line, since starting at $ 900 more is the same as the current Encore and delivers more power, space, and gas consumption, there's no question that an Encore variant is available as far as your Buick distributor is concerned.

However, the Buick's only advantage over other crossovers is its improved powertrain, quietness,  and a high-end badge, but it's a good crossover anyway.

The main problem with the Buick Encore GX is that in the premium compact crossover market, there is one budget competitor that has a much more robust package. A popular car is the Mazda CX-30, it costs a lot cheaper around $ 22,000 and also the cabin is more elegant with luxury fittings, a real contender for sure. The car is presented with a lot of innovation and safety tools because it has more powerful power and much better handling in its sleek body and it is potentially possible in the coming years to come with much more advanced technology.

However, the Buick Encore GX is worth your attention, if you're looking for a smaller, more affordable crossover.

The advantage over Mazda CX-30 is that the Encore GX has more interior and cargo space and promises a smoother ride and quieter interior that some may like. In comparison, this vehicle is a competitive option over other crossovers at less than $ 30,000.

Engine and Consumption

Encore GX power is your option for a little three-cylinder turbocharged engine. The basic engine, available in all trims, a 1.2 liter model with 137 hp and a torque of 162 lb-ft. Only CVT and front-wheel drive can be paired. It also isn't a very adequate motor supply, which consumes 28/31/29 mpg. Optional engine with a 1.3-liter engine, currently offered only in the two highest models, namely Select and Essence, which generates 155 hp and 174 pounds-feet of torque.

The engine can be combined with CVT and front-wheel drive, or a 9-speed auto all-wheel drive. It is also the most effective option due to performance boosters, such as electric turbo wastegate, oil pump, brake booster, and crankshaft offset. The Encore GX operates with CVT and front-wheel-drive and consumes 30/32/31 mpg. The full-drive version consumes 26/29/28 mpg.

The Encore GX is more efficient and saves fuel with a 1.3-liter engine and CVT. Although not the most potent car in its class, the torque is available throughout the rev band, so it doesn't feel weak. Buick has done a fantastic job of maintaining the engine silent, either by optimizing the powertrain or by blocking the noise. You rarely hear anything other than a low rumbling sound from under the hood.

The CVT is your first choice of transmission, as it is swift and unobtrusive. The revs are mostly low, not feeling like a rubber band. Also, a quick response to the right foot as you don't have to wait for more rpm for acceleration. However, it's smart to go with the 1.3 liters and CVT combination when you don't have the budget or want all-wheel drive.

Designed in a well-insulated powertrain, a tranquil cabin is possible—almost no tire, wind, or traffic noise. You may notice a tiny thump when you go over the many bumps, but the rest is the quiet cabin that the incredible Crossover has. The $ 25,000 model also gets full peace. Noise Cancellation is standard for all Encore GX versions.

Other driving sensations, however, are less impressive. Drive gently, as you would from a Buick, removing harshness from the pockmarked pavement, but still losing the sense of calm. There is a slight roll up and down right after the big bumps. Needless to say, handling with a decent body roll and a less vibrant chassis isn't an advantage. The steering wheel has perfect weight but much less feedback.

Buick Encore GX Interior

The Encore GX's interior isn't all that spectacular, although the materials aren't disappointing and include some soft-touch plastics and upholstered dashboard trim. But the plastic scraps are too big, which looks cheaper than the original price.

The whole layout is like everyone being told they need a curved interior and making each piece without knowing how each part supports each other. The all-black interior makes it quite bored, but there are definitely some people who like this color choice. But we recommend choosing a contrasting colored interior that adds to the visual appeal of the cabin.

However, the advantage is that the controls are comfortable to use. In the middle stack, exceptional climate control is positioned lower. The standard 8-inch infotainment monitor is bright, transparent, and highly responsive. The Encore GX can even be complemented by a bright, transparent head-up display on the top two trims.

It's also very comfortable to sit on the Encore GX as there is plenty of room for the front passenger in most directions. Pleasant and high in terms of sitting position like a Crossover that customers seem to like. But the front seat is very flat with a shorter and narrower base, which can be challenging to travel over long distances. The rear seats are flat, but luckily the back of the seats are comfortable.

If you are a passenger about 5 feet 11 inches tall, space at the back is acceptable, but knee space is a bit small. A decent amount of luggage space is the reward for a very narrow rear seat.
There are 25.3 cubic feet behind the rear seat, and when folded, you get comfortable storage space of up to 50.2 cubic feet.
