Although it is rarely used if the rainfall is not high, you should not ignore the wipers. Continuous heat on the windshield will make the wiper rubber harden, and the edges become brittle.

If that happens, the best option is to replace the car wiper or instead replace the rubber part because it is not feasible to use. After all, it can make the windshield scratched if you keep installing it.

You can replace it yourself, but before that, there are some things you want to understand before replacing a car wiper, so what are the key points?

Choose wipers

First, you must choose the car wipers. There are lots of choices at different prices on the market. You must pay attention to the size of the wiper because each car has a different standard size. To find out, you can use a ruler to measure the length from one end of the wiper to the other.

How to replace the wiper

After you get a replacement wiper, the next sequence of steps is to change the wiper yourself. It's not difficult, but some things still must be considered.

  1.  Lift the two wiper handles up, like when you were washing the car
  2. Next, you need to remove the wiper blade from the handle. For information, for the frame model, you can simply press the clamp and push it down. As for the frameless model, all you have to do is open the hook and push it down. Do this carefully, and do not let the wiper blade hit the glass because it can cause unwanted scratches.
  3. To install the wiper, you only need to do the opposite step from removing the wiper blade. You can simply attach it to the hook for windshield wipers, press it, and push it up until you hear a click.
As for the frameless model, just attach the wiper blade to the hook.
Push it up until you hear a click, then close the hook.
