Ferrari Daytona History and Models

Daytona is one of the best Ferrari models of all time. Even though the name has never been used in Ferrari literature or is unofficial, it is a successful successor to the 275 GTB / 4, which is excellent.

Ferrari took the rear differential from its predecessors and combine it with a 5-speed gearbox and all-round independent suspension. Some of the components in this car were a 4,390cc engine unit that produced 325bhp @ 7,500 rpm with two camshafts per bank, improved ventilated disc brakes, and six outstanding twin-choke Weber carburetors.

It was first presented at the Paris Motorshow in October 1968 while at the Frankfurt Motorshow in September of the following year, the 365 GTS/4 Spider variant was introduced.

Pininfarina designed an immaculate two-seat coupe body for the GTB/4 with a long hood, small cockpit, and short rear end.

Faired in headlights were replaced by pop-up units for the US and later all markets while a new style of alloy wheel, the new classic Ferrari five-spoke, was fitted. To reduce the rather high weight, aluminum alloy doors, boot lid, and hood were fitted.

A runaway success, 1,412 examples of the coupe, and 127 units of the spider (96 fo the US & 31 for Europe) were built before production ended in 1973.
