Cadillac Escalade ESV Platinum 2020 Reviews
Cadillac has been around for so many decades. As a premium luxury brand, they had countless such innovations over the years with design and engineering. Even Cadillac has gone through some changes. They went from Detroit-Michigan, to move their shop and their executive departments to NYC. Anyway, that idea didn’t work out as expected. Therefore, now they’re back where they belong.
Cadillac Escalade ESV 2020: Exterior
- Front Exterior
You’ll notice that the length of this Escalade is considerable and definitely in charge. So, what makes it so unique? At the front, you’ll love what Cadillac has done with its headlight design.

You have stacked LEDs, LED daytime running lamps in innovative design with some chrome in there. You know, Cadillac is almost synonymous with some chrome on a car, if not nearly the whole car.
With this particular Escalade SUV, you’re going to see some blacked-out portions; we will tell you later.
In a second down low, you have more exterior lighting. You’ll like the way they have it split. It’s great because they didn’t blend it all, unique design. On the massive front fascia, you’ll see an iconic Cadillac emblem, and it’s also changed over the years but still holds with the representation of the different colors in the badge.
Cadillac Escalade ESV grill with symbol |
On this Cadillac Escalade, you have the whole blacked-out grille with a little bit of flat black below it. But from one side to the other just has a presence, and people like when they see an Escalade know what it’s all about.
The hood has nice prominent body lines, gives it a beautiful muscular but luxurious look. Around the bend, you’ll see the headlight housing, the style, and the Cadillac logo up on top, and it’s a lovely touch.
You get a new 22-inch wheel, 285 on the width, and a 45 series sidewall with excellent machine finish aluminum.
Cadillac Escalade ESV wheels and rims |
All works great with the black because they chromed out the Cadillac emblem to gives it a beautiful clean look. You will not find fake vents on the side fender, and remember the main rival of this big car is the Lincoln Navigator.
From one end to the other, the length of the wheelbase will allow so much room inside.
You’ll like the black on the mirrors, also slim and trim on the turn signals. When you open the door, you’re going to have the sweet and extensive automatic dropping running boards, and they’re going to retract back into the bodywork.
You get chrome on the door handles, and even you’ll be happy to see the trim that goes across the lower midsection with very nice touches that give it a little bit of extra personality.
You have the beautiful brushed aluminum look roof rails up top. But if you are less than 6 ft, you’re going to need a ladder to get your canoe or kayak up there.
The beltline is coming all the way down from the fender into the rear quarter-panel. A large massive rear glasses will let a lot of light open up the interior even more. You’ll be surprised because they didn’t trim it with any kind of chrome; everything is blacked out and gives it a beautiful sleek look.
- Rear Exterior
You have a low roof spoiler and the large Cadillac Escalade taillights with full LED on the rear. What’s interesting is it will remind you of the 1957 Cadillac with the large rear and the wings.
The back is very clean, Cadillac doesn’t stick many emblems and graphics all over it. You have your third brake light, framed in some chrome, Cadillac badge, and Escalade, all nice and clean.
You’ll notice that you get an excellent cover that’s going to cover up the trailer hitch.
Also, you have an excellent single chrome exhaust tip on one side. But it would have been nice to have two. Why Cadillac only put one little tiny exhaust tip for such a large vehicle?
Cadillac Escalade ESV Platinum 2020: Engine
You have the massive hood, and what’s surprising is underneath. There’s some style, and Cadillac put a nice-looking engine cover. You get a 6.2 liter V8, 420 horsepower, 460 pound-feet of torque, and it’s all mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission.
The Cadillac Escalade ESV is set up for rear-wheel-drive, but you could get all-wheel-drive also. The MPGs are 14 (city) and 21 (highway). It weighs around 5,856 pounds with a towing capacity of 7,900 pounds.
One other nice feature on the Escalade is the magnetic ride control suspension to automatically adjust the suspensions with the ECU and give you the best ride and excellent handling.
When you look underneath the hood, you could see the engine.
You can see the exhaust manifolds, all of the equipment running off of the engine, like your AC, and all crankshaft pulley.
Cadillac Escalade ESV 2020: Interior
2020 Escalade ESV is a large vehicle that probably means it has a significant MSRP. So, let’s see what you get for the money!
- Door panels
On the door panels, you’re going to get an excellent feel, fit and finish. There’s beautiful leather on the armrest. You got some stitch work, even a combination of leather and Alcantara microsuede with some wood trim, very classy.
Also, you get the optional 13 speaker Bose sound system and a gigantic pocket that you could put items without having to squish anything.
- Dashboard
On the dashboard, you get soft material, more Alcantara, some wood trim, the lovely silver around the AC vents, and the infotainment system with excellent graphics. You can click on it, and it’s a high-speed, clearly touchscreen 8-inch display. You could get into all your different settings, and it’s got Apple Carplay and Android auto.

You get AC controls, heated seats, ventilated seats, different buttons around for model selection, traction control, dual climate control, and heat and ventilated seating. Also, you get a little bit of wood trim that blends in the start/stop button in the best places because it is effortless to find.
Besides, you get leather all over the place. When you open the wood lid, you can put your mobile or other items safely. Also, you have 12 volt and 2 USB. You get two standard cup holders, and you’ll like the lid design.

The standard Cadillac key fob looks a little game boy, but at least they got the emblem.
Above the center storage, you do have wireless charging. Inside, you got a little removable tray. It’s almost like a felt line party tray. Even you have more room underneath. Not only that, if you leave it in place, but you could also put more technology because you have two more USBs and a 12-volt.

You’ll like the fact that the center console is high. It separates you and your passenger, also you got plenty of headroom.
You do have two memory settings for your Cadillac ESV, and you’ll love the touches. They did a great job making it feel very comfortable, and you have silver chrome-tipped switch work to control your driver’s seat. You’ll see the subtle Cadillac badge down below on the sill.
- Seats
The seats are very comfy with a little bit of Alcantara material up top and the famous Cadillac bar. You do have excellent stitch work, full electric assist on both sides, which is terrific.
- Sunroof
Unfortunately, it’s a standard sunroof, and you deserve to get a better sunroof because this is the longest Cadillac in existence. Also, the headliner is just cloth, no Alcantara! That’s another disappointment because at a $93,000 price point, what do you get through?
However, you’ll love the digital rearview mirror; it clear and easy to use.
- Steering Wheel
You’ll like the steering wheel shape. However, it could be a little bit thicker. You have the wood grain brought in some buttons, though they seem a bit dated, so it will be better if they redesign.

But what doesn’t look dated is a 12-inch digital. You’ll love the speedometer, tachometer, and all the other information. You could slide and scroll and change a plethora of different information, which is a nice touch in this system.
You will not mind the column shift, but the material is like rubberized plastic. It should have some nice leather-wrapped around.
You also have a super bright heads-up display, which is a nice touch.
- Mid-row
In the mid-row, of course, you get plenty of room, headroom, shoulder space! But the armrests are too skinny and too short because some of us have some big arms.

The backs of the seats are wrap very lovely. You do have a very tight pocket; you could probably get slim items in there.
In the center, you get another pocket where you can slide your phone in there. Also, it is a felt line, so you’re not going to scratch your mobile. You have USB, HDMI, rear AC heated seats, aux jack, 12-volt, and a home power source. But, unfortunately, there are no ventilated seats in this $93,000 vehicle!
You have AC vents and a large screen for the mid-row. Don’t worry because the third row has its screen. The seats are good, and you can lean back comfortably.
- 3rd row
To get into the third row, it’s real simple; just push a button near the mid-row once, and the seat flops down, and if you press it again, you’ll get tons of space!
You’ll like the running board because it’s fully extended. It allows your passengers for the third row to get in and out quickly.
But the plastic down on the sills should be brought into the carpeted area because your children may rip or shred it when they are in and out.
The Cadillac ESV 3rd row can fit a six-foot-tall grown man in comfort; you get plenty of headroom, three-zone rear AC, and a monitor for entertainment. Your knees and back will feel comfortable.
Also, you have one cup holder and one 12-volt. However, there’s no USB port. You know if this is an expensive vehicle, so you want that. Anyway, in your Escalade, you are going to be able to haul everybody around in comfort.
Cadillac Escalade ESV 2020: Cargo Space
You’re not going to lift manually; just push the button, and the door goes up very quickly. If the third row is up, you’ll get 39 cubic feet of space, and if you put the third row down, you’ll have 77 cubic feet.

Not only that, because if you put the mid-row down, but it also goes up to 121 cubic feet of space.

On the side, you can see the buttons to put everything down quickly. You also have a 12-volt for tailgating and whatnot. Also, you have the all-weather floor mats.
Underneath, you have a friendly minor shelf system, and you could put some items. When you put the seats down, you’ll see great smooth action, and it’s nice to get everything all from the back with over 100 cubic feet of space.
Cadillac Escalade ESV 2020: Specs and Performance
The 2020 Cadillac Escalade ESV is one of the big vehicles when it comes to length. But from behind the wheel, you have a presence on the road. Visibility out the front is excellent. The welcome news is that you have a digital rearview mirror because it’s a little tight going out the back window.
You’ll be impressed with the engine setup and the transmission in the Cadillac Escalade ESV because the 10-speed automatic transmission is rapid, so you don’t take much time for it to downshift.
The dash is beautiful. The font, graphics, and color will knock that one out of the park. It has the data cue system, just one thing to be aware of, but everywhere you touch, the finishes are unbelievable.

Conclusion
The Escalade is what people had dreamed about when they were kids to have an SUV like this. It’s large and in charge for sure on the throttle and 6.2 liters V8.

Maybe you need an Escalade, but you a little worried if it will be hard to drive, and you’re not going to be able to handle it very well. You need to get behind the wheel in this vehicle because it does the business well with huge space.
The throttle is a little touchy, but once you’re ready to lay it down, you have a great grumble from super-smooth V8. Maybe you thought it was going to be a little challenging to drive because of the size.
